BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - As part of a mower replacement program, Bassetlaw District Council in North Nottinghamshire has welcomed two Toro® LT3340 high-performance reel mowers in a bid to maintain the District's multitude of diverse grassy areas.

With North Nottinghamshire being a largely rural area, Keith Somers, operational services manager, explains why Bassetlaw District Council chose to invest in the Toro LT3340s: “The two new mowers have replaced older machines as part of a replacement program of existing machinery we have with Toro and UK distributor Reesink Turfcare UK. Ltd. They have joined four other Toro machines that we already operate here.”

Since the mowers arrived in February 2016, Somers says they have been used to maintain parks, cemeteries, closed church yards, housing estates and sports areas. “The main benefits of these machines are that they are able to deal with both small and large areas of grass across all of these different spaces,” he adds.

From light trimming to mowing dense, overgrown areas, the LT3340 can be tailored to suit a variety of mowing applications. The high-quality design and robust heavy-duty construction meets the most demanding of environments, while the high-performance cutting units provide the perfect finish every time.

Somers goes on to explain why Toro was the preferred choice when the Council initially took the move to replace machinery: “Toro was chosen as we felt, after going through a tender process trialling other brands, that they were the best value for money.”

Heading up a grounds team of 25 full-time employees, six seasonal employees and one apprentice, Somers notes that his team is also happy with the choice: “The mowers are rated as very good by the staff; they do like these machines.”

While the machinery was supplied by distributor Reesink Turfcare UK. Ltd., the Council has also worked with local Nottingham-based Toro dealer PS Marsden on the replacement program. “We use PS Marsden for parts and also use them for purchasing other grounds maintenance equipment,” explains Somers. “I have always found them to be a very competitive company when providing us with quotations for other equipment and they have been very good with getting back quickly with repairs or supplying spare parts.”
