MOLINE, IL.- A Community Impact Project aimed at giving back to communities across the country through rental-related projects has helped to bring improvements to one of Minnesota’s most popular state parks.

Fort Snelling State Park, located in the heart of the Twin Cities, was the recent site of a Community Impact Project coordinated by the ARA Foundation and The Toro Company Foundation. Volunteers from local rental businesses teamed up with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 to install a natural play area, restore native vegetation, remove flood damage and perform maintenance on walking trails and public areas.

The two-day project was led by nine Minnesota-based rental companies and their employees, who offered rental expertise, equipment and labor. Volunteers from area rental businesses and manufacturers included:

  • Hiawatha Reddy Rents, Minneapolis
  • Crown Rental, Burnsville
  • A1 Rent It, Wayzata
  • Brainerd General Rental, Brainerd
  • First Western Equipment Finance, Eden Prairie
  • J & F Reddy Rents, Saint Louis Park
  • DePrey Co., Saint Cloud
  • Great Northern Equipment, Rogers
  • Broadway Rental Equipment Co., Brooklyn Park

The efforts at Fort Snelling State Park were the third in a series of Community Impact Projects. The inaugural event was held in Ohio during June and was followed by a second project in Denver in July. One additional project is planned for 2021.

“This effort was made possible through a $20,000 donation from the ARA Foundation and The Toro Company Foundation, plus the generosity of local rental companies throughout the Twin Cities who volunteered their time and donated the use of rental equipment,” said Marcy Wright, ARA Foundation executive director. “We were able to make improvements to a state park in the heart of the cities and with that came a sense of accomplishment for all who were involved.”

The Community Impact Program involves both foundations partnering with local nonprofit organizations to coordinate community service projects across the country. The dual-purpose program allows those in the rental industry an opportunity to give back to their community, as well as build public awareness and demonstrate the advantages of rental.
